Ministry of the Sons of God

Topic: Ministry of the Sons of God

Greetings Sons of God:

First we know that ministry is serving.  Now when we talk about the ministry of the sons of God so much is put into thinking ministry is a select group of programs under a church umbrella.  Do not get me wrong many of these ministries do well in the community but we are called to go higher in Him.  His thoughts are higher than our thoughts.  So there is a level of ministry that the Lord is bringing us to that not only meet the physical needs but  above all the very spiritual needs of people.  I would like to use the story of Joseph (Genesis 39-41) to explain this wonderful concept because remember many of the old testament testimonies and witnesses are shadows of things to come.

We remember Joseph, sold into slavery by his brothers through jealousy because of the vision from the Lord.  He ends up in Egypt serving under Potipher.  The Lord gives him visions and interpretations to reveal to the prisoners and ultimately to Pharaoh.  The power of God working through Joseph would elevate him to ruler over Egypt and through him the nation, Egypt and nations round-a-bout were saved by the provisions Joseph made with the wisdom of God.  We know this includes his very own family that betrayed him.  This is how the nation ended up in Egypt.  Now this is the shadow and reality.  Joseph is a picture of Christ.  Through His rule the nations were saved and provisions made in the midst of famine and drought.   Because we are in Christ this is our ministry.  Let me lead with this Scripture:

1 Peter 1:10-12: Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you: Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ and the glory that should follow.  Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.

The manifestation of the sons of God for this time is that we become His channel for the word and authority for this time.  In this time of preparation and maturity we will leave the mentality of hoarding and storing up for physical provisions and be what God desires to become within us.  What does this mean?

We are His life, His bread, His water which He has prepared for those people who are shifting out of this dying age.  We are the vessels He is preparing as provisions for the people who desire to come to Him.  We must come to a realization that those people in the Bible were just like us and things that happened to them were written for our instruction and example:

1 Corinthians 10:11: Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples and they are written for our admonition upon whom the ends of the world are come.

We are being prepared for such a time as this.  This is not about working for God but manifesting God incarnate through the sons.  This is why our bodies and the entire creation is in travail.  There is a yearning within your spirit to manifest God within you and the creation is groaning for the liberty from the sons of God from this corrupt world.  This why you are going through these trails in these days to burn away the soulish nature,  The Word of the Lord is going to continue to try you until it is made flesh within you.

Psalm 105:19: Until the time His word came: the word of the Lord tried him.

Work with the Lord and submit your soul to the rule of the flesh so that you may be all that He desires in the earth.

The Work of the Cross

Topic: The Work of the Cross

Greetings Sons of God:
What is the work of the cross? We know it was at the cross that Jesus died and paid the ultimate sacrifice that none of could and by His sacrifice He has given us a way back to the Father so that we may live out His purposes for our lives, manifest His Will and restore His order to the earth through the administration of His Kingdom.  For many people it ends with that.  Unfortunately it does not end there because we have many Scriptures to tell us about how our path to sonship must go through the cross.  Let begin to show you:

Matthew 16:24-26: Then said Jesus unto His disciples, if any man will come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.  For what is a man profited if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?  Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

Now first let’s get the most important part of this and it is that first one must make a decision to follow Christ.  Once you have made the decision the next thing you must do is deny yourself.  Why must we deny ourselves you may ask? Because all this time who you thought you were is not who God sees you to be.  In addition, your very perception of your identity in Christ was blurred and so it is through the work of the cross that clarity is brought to this foggy situation.  Now let me sum up what the work of the cross is and then we will dissect and break it down:

The work of the cross is for us to die to the soul and fleshly nature!

Let’s prove it!   Go back to Matthew 16:24-26!  Jesus says you must deny yourself, pick up your cross and follow him and then He goes into a very teaching.  He says this:  Whosoever will save his life shall lose it and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.  And then he says What does it profit a man to gain the whole world but lose his soul!   Now what is Jesus saying?  Jesus is saying those who will die to who they think they are (soulish identity) they will find their life (Son in the Spirit).  In our soulish nature we will seek to gain the things of this world for our provision, protection and in some cases our “wealth”.  But Jesus says if we live this way then we will lose our soul.  Understand this when we are saved, the Holy Spirit abides with our spirit and fellowships.  Our soul is still trying to rule but when we deny ourselves and learn the excellence over our soul, the soul will be redeemed to its place of blindly following the spirit.  But when we are carnally minded (soulish) the Scriptures say it leads to death (but to be spiritually minded is LIFE AND PEACE (Romans 8:6)!!   So when Jesus says anyone who will give up their life (soul) they will find it (spirit).  Now let’s talk about the importance of the work of the cross and death.

John 12:23-25:  And Jesus answered them saying, The hour is come that the Son of man should be glorified.  Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.  He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.

Jesus tells us that when a corn of wheat fall to the ground and die it will bring forth much fruit.  Now did we ever think about that?  If you have ever grown anything, you know that when you plant a seed in the ground the seed will decay and die first before bringing for a plant and ultimately it’s fruit. So are the sons of God.  We must die first and the Spirit (water) will give life to us to bring forth the divine fruit. Now just like in the Scripture in Matthew after speaking of death he speaks of losing life and finding life.  So here are two distinct Scriptures speaking of the necessity of death to bring about life.  Let me give you this other picture:

Romans 6:3-5: Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection.

Even when you decided to give your life to Christ, death was necessary to bring forth life.  When you were baptized by water, this was a symbolic gesture to the heavenly that this person has decided to die to sin.  So the purpose of water baptism is to symbolize death but just as you make that decision, the Spirit of Christ, the Spirit of Son comes into your spirit or gives life to your spirit, resurrected you from the dead that you may now fulfill the eternal purposes that the Father has for your life. This is why 2 Corinthians 5:17 says this:

2 Corinthians 5:17:  Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away (dead); behold (look) all things are become new.

Now after we are born again we must continue to die as it pertains to submitting the soul to the rule of the spirit.  The rule of the soul is an enemy of God because it does not know the things of God.  Only the spirit of a man can receive the things from the Spirit.  So we must continue to allow the Lord to burn the soulish nature from out of us.  We must work together in unison with the Lord to hasten this process of maturity.  This is why we have Scriptures such as these:

2 Corinthians 4:10-12: Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.  For we which live are always delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.  So then death worketh in us, but life in you.

Psalm 116:15:  Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.

Now as for the Psalm Scripture you may wonder why would the Lord say precious in His sight is the death of his saints.  First a major concept is brought about right here is that the only place that the work of the cross can be done and completed is in His presence.  Death is not just the physical death but moreover when the saints lay down their lives, die to the rule of the soul and flesh, it pleases the Lord because more of Him can be seen through them.

Know this is a worth call and it requires a personal response.  No one can make you do this and no one, including God will force this upon you.  The walk is for those who have chosen to mature and be all that the Lord has made them to be.  On this walk it may seem to get lonely but know that the Lord is with you and you must take comfort in that very fact, Christ in you the hope of glory.  Now let me share this last Scripture:

Hebrews 10:38,39:  Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.  But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.

Do not draw back to soulish living when you have experienced the power of the Spirit.  When you know better the Lord will hold you accountable when you draw back to soulish living.  The Scripture says he takes no pleasure in one that draws back.   Dying to the soul and flesh nature saves your soul because now everything would be in the original order as the Father designed it:  The spirit leading, the soul blindly following the spirit and the flesh manifesting the will of the Spirit.  We must go through the cross and work in unison with the Lord to hasten our maturity.   When you let your soul rule you slow the maturing process.

Mark of Sonship

Topic: Mark of Sonship

Greetings Sons of God:

For many of us throughout this time period we have heard about the mark of the beast in Revelation 14:16,17:

“And he causeth all both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast or the number of his name.

Now for many people they are looking for 666 to be in people’s foreheads and a microchip in their hands.  This is a great distraction because the mark of the beast is already here and many have it.  The reason I say this is because if the mark is in their hands, it means the work that their hands do is for the devil.  If they have the mark in their foreheads, it is about the thoughts and the manifested actions from that thought that show the authority of the devil over that person.  But what about the mark of sonship?  Hmm!  Many have never heard of it but the Scriptures speak about it.

Revelation 14:1: And I looked, and lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with Him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father’s name written in their foreheads.

To have the mark of sonship is to have the Father’s name written in your forehead.  Understanding that when the Scriptures speak of foreheads it is speaking of the mind.  Now the mark of sonship and the mark of the beast are different obviously but how.  Well we know to mark something or someone denotes ownership.  The mark does something else very important.

The mark of sonship gives you the ability to see and hear spiritually.   This is HUGE because remember we are transitioning from the soul to the spirit and because we are spirit we need to be able to interact and relate to the spirit world.  Not only because our Father is spirit but because our enemy is spirit.  He is cunning, powerful and will use everything and anyone at his disposal to derail you, defile you and destroy you.  Hence you need to be able to hear spiritually and see spiritually.  As a part of your maturity, the Father is training you to hear His voice and see life from His viewpoint.

The mark of the beast yields the opposite affect in that it makes you unable to see or hear spiritually and when you are at this point you are solely ruled by your soul. It is in your soul that the enemy seeks refuge to manipulate you to do his will in the way to defile you and ultimately destroy you.  When you cannot fellowship with the Spirit of God you are blind to the spirit realm and that makes you completely vulnerable because your enemy is spirit.  He loves the cloak of invisibility because it gives him his advantage.  When you can see spiritually God admonishes us this:

Ephesians 6:18: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.

The great thing that we have going is God has raised mature sons to
You as a son, have the mark of the Father in your forehead, now let that mind which is in Christ Jesus be in you and live from that mindset.

Rise of Sons

Topic:  Rise of Sons

Greetings Sons of God:

When we talk about the rise of Sons in this day, there are fundamental concepts that we must discuss so that we understand how we are emerging.  When we speak of the rise of sons we must first understand there can be no sons without the Father birthing them.  Those who have come to Christ and have made Him Lord and believed that He is risen from the dead have all been born from above or as we say commonly “born again”.   In being born again we are no longer in the image of the first Adam but now in the image of the second Adam who is Christ.  So we have the image but because the image is spirit, it is invisible to the carnal eye but the way we know that one is a Son, let’s use Jesus, the way they knew He was from God was by the power.

1 Corinthians 4:20:  For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.

You may ask, when will this happen?  At the appointed time of the father when you have matured to handle such power responsibly and your soul is blindly following your spirit.  You may think “I will never get there!”  That is not true if you have been walking in the spirit and seeking the Lord.  Let me share this Scripture:

2 Corinthians 5:17: If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Since we are a new creation the Father is teaching us how to live as the new creation, His Son, in the earth.  He uses suffering to burn away the effects of the Fall so that the Son and Father shines through.  We are becoming and manifesting this new creation day-to-day.

2 Corinthians 3:18: But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

As we are changing we will begin to walk in spiritual authority and control when the spirit takes dominance over the soul.  We must relate to the spirit realm.  When we start to see in the spirit realm we will see much more than what our carnal eyes could see and we begin to see events and people from the eyes of the Throne of God where we are seated in Christ in heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6).  Let me share with you another crucial reason we need to see through the eyes of the spirit. Limitations will cease.

When we see life through the eyes of the soul, there are limitations to everything we do.  Even when God tells us to do something our soul will rise up and give us the reason why things may not be able to be done and this is called reasoning.  Our soul reasons on a linear plane and let me explain.  When a situation happens our souls examine the past situations similar to this one, look at what you did then to try to solve the problem and how it turned out and overlay it to the current situation in the hope of the same result happening.  That is the limitation of our soul.  Even when we look at people and our interactions with them, our soul limits our view to our opinions about them in the attempt to make ourselves either feel better, protect ourselves or if need be use people to help us provide for ourselves.   When we see things from the eyes of the Spirit, there are no limitations, everything is possible if Christ directs us and shows us.   As the Father burns the soulish nature from us we will cease to live in the mentality of limitations because there are no limitations in Christ.  Am I advocating that w do what we want and live without restrictions.  No!!!   We are called to mortify the deeds of our body and not serve sin.  What I am advocating is that when we hear from the Spirit we fully obey and comply without question because of the One who is empowering us.

This is what God is doing NOW!  You can either comply with the work of the Holy Spirit within you or rebel and face judgment.  Isaiah 2 speaks of the House of the Lord being exalted in these days.  The Lord is building His House and doing a new thing and within that thing is the grace of God to accomplish His Will.   The decision is yours and yours only.  No one, not even God Himself will force you, your heart must desire it.  As your heart desires more and more, the Father is changing you day by day.  Just stay in the teachable position and watch you change from glory to glory to the Son that the Father sees.

Calvin Calhoun, Jr.
