Word for the Week: A New and Living Way

Topic: A New and Living Way

Greetings Sons of God:
Hebrews 10:19-21: Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; And having an high priest over the house of God.

In our previous message we discussed that we are sons of God and not church members and the proper identity produces the proper purpose.  If we are sons then there is a certain lifestyle that we are to live that sets us apart (sanctify) from everyone else.  What is this new and living way?

Romans 8:11-14: But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken (give life) your mortal bodies by His Spirit that dwelleth in you.  Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.  For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die; but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.  For as manay as a lead by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God

This new and living way is a life live through the Spirit, by the Spirit and after the Spirit.  After the fall we saw and perceived life through the eyes of the soul and this viewpoint is carnal and sensual.  But remember everything that was made was made by the Spirit (John 1:1-3) hence our viewpoint to reality needs to be from the spirit, not the soul.  We are called to live life from the eyes and voice of the Spirit of God and if we sacrifice the carnal and fleshly desires of our body (Romans 12:1,2) and submit our body to the rule of the Spirit, the life we live will confirm and show that we are the sons of God.  And if we are sons of God then we put on display the character and nature of God (Genesis 1:26).   This new and living way comes with maturity by fathering and discipleship.

Jesus came to be our example of who we are and the things we are called to do and represent as sons of God.  This can only be achieved from the true relationship that you are a son and God is your Father.  The devil understands the power of you knowing who you are and the importance of trying to keep you from being a son in your mindset.

Matthew 4 tells us about the temptations of Jesus from the devil in the wilderness after the baptism.  But what we fail to see if the question the devil is asking.  He leads each temptation with “If you be the Son of God…..”.   Jesus had to be secure in Himself and understand how He was to live in order to overcome the devil.  He only said what He heard the Father say and this is how He overcame the temptations in the wilderness.  The life of a son is constrained and lead by the Spirit of God by the son’s submission and obedience to the Will of the Spirit.

When Jesus declared that you are a new creation 2 Corinthians 5:17 He declaring not only your identity but also your character and life.  It is time live a new and living way that was paid and paved by the blood of Jesus.  We made a vow that we would serve Him always.  As He has kept His Word, so should we.  It is time for you learn and walk in the new and living way

Household Gathering: Heavenly Perspectives

Word for the Week: Inaccurate Positioning in the Spirit

Word for the Week Focus: Inaccurate Positioning in the Spirit Greetings Sons of God: 2 Timothy 3:16: All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness I lead off with this Scripture to share what the Lord shared with me over this weekend. He said: “Many desire to hear the Word of inspiration and encouragement but few desire to hear the Word of correction. It is the Word of Correction that brings us to the Word of Inspiration and Encouragement.” One of the major problems we have in church culture is not willing to admit that we have made a mistake. Our pride gets in the way of us admitting this for fear of losing people. But in turn, we damage people from helping them come into an accurate understanding of the Word. This leads me to our topic today Inaccurate Positioning in the Spirit. Proverbs 23:7: For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee. One of the greatest tragedies in life is to never know who you are and your purpose. Now you would think this would not be an issue for the Body of Christ but it is. Let me explain. When someone ask what is your religion this is the common answer: “I am….Baptist, Episcopalian, A.M.E, Primitive Baptist, Missionary Baptist, Holiness, Pentecostal, Lutheran, Presbyterian, Apostolic" Now keep Proverbs 23:7 in mind! Is this how God expects you to answer the question? Your perception of your identity sets the course of your life. So who did God say you were? John 1:12: But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name. Galatians 4:6,7: And because ye are sons, God hath sent for the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying Abba, Father. Wherefore thou art no more a servant but a son, and if a son, then a heir of God through Christ Acts 17:28,29: For in Him we live and move and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also His offspring. Romans 8:14: For as many as are led by the Spirit of God they are the sons of God Romans 8:16: The Spirit beareth witness with our spirit that we are the children of God So throughout the Word and I could have given you Old Testament Scriptures also but you are called to be sons of God, that’s it, nothing less. Anything less than that is a hindrance to your maturity. Now if God the Father sees you as His son, how should your pastor see you? God the Father is maturing sons, not members of churches and God is not gracing inaccurate identity. When you embrace the identity God sees you as then you can begin to mature in the manner that the Father matures sons. Being just a member of a church is no different than accepting the mentality of the prodigal son in his return to his Father’s house. He just wanted to come back to eat bread. But when you arrive the Father sees you as a son and desire to restore you to righteous rule, representation and your inheritance as His Son and in being His son you know you have access to all you need because you are a son. To Senior Leaders: It is time to repent a move from a inaccurate viewpoint of the people of God and see them the way the Father sees them. Accurate indentity breeds accurate purposes and divine results. Let’s repent and shift to an accurate position so that we may serve the Lord within the grace He is given for this season To the Congregations: You must embrace what the Word of God says about you, not man. God did not give you His image for you be recognize as a disciple of a denomination but as a son of God. Listen to how you refer to yourself as it pertains to the Faith and think upon Proverbs 23:7. Do not settle for less than who God says you are because to do that only cuts you off more from your inheritance. Peace, Love and Grace, Calvin Calhoun, Jr.

Welcome Back and Update

Greetings Body of Christ: I know it has been a long time since I have released any teachings but in maturing the Lord has shown and taught so much and there is a time to write and a time to listen and now the Lord has allowed me to release and impart to you His Word. These messages going forth will encourage, inspire and correct past behaviors that maybe preventing us from operating in the grace of God for this current season. The Lord is calling us to an accurate position in the Spirit. It is incumbent upon you to hear His voice and obey Him. To fight against His voice is to fight against His Will and to fight against His Will is to fight against what is best for you. My sincere prayer is that you hear the Word of the Lord through the message. Allow it to challenge your soul and confirm what the Lord is saying in your spirit. We are called to follow the Spirit of God and His voice that testifies with our spirit (Romans 8:14-16). God is the same, yesterday, today and forever but how He matures us and is building His Temple changes with age and time of man. I desire to hear the Lord say well done thy good and faithful servant, not Depart from me you workers of iniquity, I never knew you. Make a choice today, Make a change today……It is time to obey God and live within His Will and His grace for which you were designed before the foundation of the world. Look forward to releasing His Word to you in the days to come. Calvin Calhoun, Jr. Household of Elijah - United States BODY OF CHRIST Website: www.householdofcalhoun.org Skype: elder.calvin.calhoun
